Mitchell Shawn Ortega is a Florida licensed attorney specializing in collections defense and consumer protection. Mr. Ortega has experience dealing with debt collection lawsuits, debt settlement negotiations, garnishments, foreclosure defense, FDCPA/FCCPA claims, Lemon Law claims, ADA Title III litigation, structured settlement transfers, commercial and consumer contract drafting and review, business negotiations and other related legal matters.
Mr. Ortega is currently the managing partner of MSO LAW, P.A. Previously Mr. Ortega was a partner at a law firm specializing in collections defense and also worked as an associate attorney advocating on behalf of disabled individuals and small businesses. Mr. Ortega has volunteered to work for indigent clients dealing with matters such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits, domestic violence disputes and landlord tenant matters.
Mr. Ortega received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from The University of Florida in 2012, and then went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center in 2016. During law school, Mr. Ortega was champion of the Feinrider Upper Class Moot Court Competition as well as an active member of the Nova Southeastern Moot Court Society. Mr. Ortega also served as Director of Communications for the Nova Southeastern Intellectual Property Law Society and participated in the National Institute for Trial Advocacy Deposition Skills Program. Mr. Ortega currently resides in Coconut Creek, Florida where in his free time he enjoys bowling, running and Florida Gator sports.
